HANDLING
LIBRARY MATERIAL

Spend a little more time shelving books and items carefully

Storage methods have a direct effect on the useful life of library material. While proper storage can extend life, slovenly, haphazard, overcrowded conditions soon result in damaged collections.

{spend a little time and thought when shelving books}
do you notice anything strange about this picture?

{do not store books on books}
spend a little more time shelving books and items carefully

{books must be stored atleast 10cm above the floor}
books left on the floor are in great
danger of getting wet if there is a leak

{onward with the show}
