Item 50. Sybil, or the two nations
London: Henry Colburn, 1845, second edition. Vet. A6 e. 18/1, vol. 3, pp. 148-9
This is perhaps Disraeli's best known novel, with its reference to the existence of
'two nations' - rich and poor, living side by side in two separate worlds, 'ignorant
of each other's habits, thoughts and feelings.'
