Exchange of letters, April 1908, between Asquith, newly appointed Prime Minister and Lewis Harcourt. Asquith had been obliged to travel to Biarritz to present himself to King Edward VII for the 'kissing of hands' ceremony. The recuperating monarch had refused to return to London. Harcourt was to be Commissioner for Works, the office he'd held in Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman's government.
