History of the collection

The manuscripts are from the collection of T. R. Buchanan (d. 1912), and were donated to the Bodleian by his wife Mrs. E. O. Buchanan in 1939 and 1942. The formation of the collection, and the circumstances surrounding its donation to the Bodleian, are described in detail in the Introduction to the catalogue of the medieval manuscripts cited above.
