Biographical History

The Ashhurst family of Waterstock, Oxfordshire, includes Sir William Henry Ashhurst (1725-1807), William Henry Ashhurst MP (1778-1846), and Miss Gladys Ashhurst, who was a member of Oxfordshire County Council in the 1930s and 1940s. Details for Sir William Henry Ashhurst are given in the Dictionary of National Biography.

Scope and Content

The collection includes title deeds to properties in Waterstock, Waterperry, Emmington and Chilworth, all Oxfordshire, legal and estate papers of Sir William Henry Ashhurst (1725-1807) and William Henry Ashhurst MP (1778-1846), family photograph albums of the late 19th century, and papers of Miss Gladys Ashhurst as a member of Oxfordshire County Council.
