Biographical History

As a child, Elizabeth Barrett became the ward of her cousin, Edward Barrett Moulton-Barrett, the father of Elizabeth Barrett Browning, who undertook much of her education. She later married one of Elizabeth Barrett Browning's younger brothers, Alfred Price Moulton-Barrett.

Scope and Content

Notebooks containing notes from Rollin's Ancient History, a translation of a French play and miscellaneous notes.

Acquisition

Given by Edward R. Moulton-Barrett, great-grandson of Miss Elizabeth Barrett, 1990 (see Bodleian Library Record, Vol. XIII (Apr. 1991) p. 507).
