Samuel Rawson Gardiner (1829-1902) was a historian. Details are given in the Dictionary of National Biography.
Copies and abstracts of documents, made by Gardiner, used in the compilation of his History of England for the years 1603-50 and 1621-47 (published 1869-89). The documents are chiefly copies of despatches and letters.
The papers were presented to the Library by S.R. Gardiner, March 1896.
