The Heber family included Reginald Heber (1728-1804), fellow and tutor of Brasenose College, Oxford, and his sons Richard (1773-1833), MP, book collector and classical scholar, and Reginald (1783-1826), Bishop of Calcutta. Details of the two sons are given in the Dictionary of National Biography.

The papers were given to the Library in 1964.
