Biographical / Historical

Thomas Martin, 1697–1771, was a Suffolk antiquary and book collector. He was an influential fellow of the Society of Antiquaries.

Custodial History

The collection was owned by Craven Ord, and was lot 1014 in the sale of his MSS., R. H. Evans, 25 Jan, 1830.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The collection was bought by the Library from Sotheby's, 26 June 1975, lots 2881, 2943-2944, 3021.
