Mark Noble (1754-1827) was a biographer, genealogist and antiquary. Details are given in the Dictionary of National Biography.

Correspondence, catalogues and antiquarian works of Mark Noble, with some papers of his daughter, Martha C. Syms. Consisting of:

• Letters, mainly from J.S. Hylton, 1773-1781
• Letters from various correspondents, 1781-1826
• Catalogues of historical prints and engraved portraits
• Antiquarian works and sermons, including 'History of the family of Noble', 1800, and 'An history of the ... house of Brandon', 1807
• Papers of Martha Syms, including reminiscences, n.d., and letters, 1801-16

The papers were owned by members of the Cresswell and Farmer families, descendants of Mark Noble.

The papers were given to the Library in 1927.
