Administrative/Biographical History

Captain Charles Vicars Boyle (d 1913) was Assistant Resident, Yola Province, Northern Nigeria, c1906-1913. He was the author of Notes on the Yola Fulani (Journal of the Royal African Society, vol. 10, no. 37, 1910).

Scope and Content

Diaries, January-July 1909, March 1911, February-June 1913, February-March (n.y.), providing a detailed account of his work as Assistant Resident; transcript of a letter to his mother on his arrival at Yola, 1906; typescript ethnological report by Boyle on Lala District, Yola Province.

Sections January-February and May-June 1909 are filed in folders 1 and 2, the remainder of 1909 are loose in folders 1 and 2, and the remaining diary pages loose in folder 3.
