Biographical / Historical

The Ashmolean Natural History Society of Oxfordshire is a History Society in Oxford. It was established as the Ashmolean Society in 1828 and was merged with the Oxfordshire Natural History Society in 1901.The objective of the Society is to encourage an interest in Natural History, and further faciliate conservation and study of Natural History.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Items shelf-marked Dep. were deposited by the Ashmolean Natural History Society, 1978-9, 1981, 1990. MSS. Top. Oxon. d. 316-27, 673/1-2 were given to the Library by Mr. F.A. Bellamy in 1914 and 1918; and MSS. Top. Oxon. d. 893-6, e. 606 were purchased from Robin Waterfield Ltd. of Oxford, 1981.
