Amos Chown, a Fellow of the Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology, started his career in 1905 as a 14-year-old laboratory technician in the University Pathological Laboratory, South Parks Road, Oxford (later renamed the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology) under the first Professor of Pathology, James Ritchie. He moved to the pathology laboratory at the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford in 1914 and worked there until his retirement in 1951 (and wrote this account of his work two years prior to his retirement).
