Copies of the correspondence between Sir Stewart Gore-Browne and Dame Ethel Locke King, with a small amount of political correspondence.

Biographical / Historical

Sir Stewart Gore-Browne (1883-1967) was a settler and politician in Northern Rhodesia, serving as a member of the Legislative Council from 1935 to 1951. He corresponded from childhood with his aunt, Dame Ethel Locke King (1864-1956), the motor-racing promoter and hospital patron. The grandchildren of Sir Stewart Gore-Browne gave permission for the correspondence to be copied and made available for research at the Bodleian Library.
