The collection includes papers of the Indian Empire Society and the India Services Pensioners' Association.

Biographical / Historical

Sir Louis Stuart (1870-1949) entered the Indian Civil Service in 1891, was Judicial Secretary to the Government of India, 1910-12; First Additional Judicial Commissioner, Oudh, 1914; Judicial Commissioner, Oudh, 1921; Puisne Judge, High Court, Allahabad, 1922-25; and Chief Judge of Oudh Chief Court, 1925-30. He retired in 1930, and was subsequently Hon. Secretary of the Indian Empire Society, Hon. Secretary of the India Services Pensioners' Association, and editor of the Indian Empire Review.
