About the MAP ROOM

Opening Times

The Map Room is open 09.00 to 19.00 in term and 09.00 to 17.00 in vacation. It is also open Saturday 09.00 to 13.00.

The Map Room houses the world's seventh largest collection of maps. Well over one million sheet maps and 20,000 atlases are available to readers. The collections include early examples of cartography, such as the fourteenth century Gough Map, portolan charts, estate maps and many atlases. All British publishers are legally obliged to deposit copies of their maps in the Bodleian, so the Map Room has one of the most comprehensive collections of Ordnance Survey maps in existence.
