Data from the US Census 2000 can be downloaded and mapped using MapInfo. This guide takes you through the downloading and mapping step-by-step. This guide has been formatted for printing so you may wish to print it for reference while working.

Important: The boundary files available in the Map Room (State, County, County sub-division, Tract, Block group and Urban areas) have been modified to include a geographic identifier field. Boundary files on the Census website do not have this field, which is required to join the tabular data to the map.

Get Census 2000 TIGER/Line Data to add to your census mapping   Shapefiles can be opened directly in MapInfo 7.0 or imported into earlier versions.
Download Census 2000 TIGER/Line Data in shapefile format for an area of interest. Users can choose multiple data layers for a single county or a single data layer for multiple counties.

What about 1990 data?
1990 boundary data files are also available in the Map Room.
