Vizetelly, Branston & Co. Engravers and Ornamental Printers

Vitzetelly, Branston & Co. was a thriving concern, with over 20 presses in 1821. However, a lawsuit led to the collapse of the firm and it was taken over by the independent firm of Vizetelly Bros. & Co.

The design of this card is based on the effect created by compound plate printing (a security printing method in which engraved plates were inked separately and brought together for printing). This became fashionable, even where security was not an issue. It is also echoed in no. 95.
