Lillington’s Hosiery Glove & London Hat Warehouse. [Birmingham]

Lillington’s of Birmingham was also a carpet warehouse and furnished funerals and sold trunks, portmanteaux, umbrellas and parasols. In his advertisement in William West’s directory of 1830 (when his address was 24 New Street), James Barnett Lillington announces that he has made ‘arrangements with several London Houses of eminence for a continual supply of fashionable goods….’ The window display shows hats, hosiery, gloves and umbrellas, again festooned around the glazing bars.
