Jno. Wickens’s Music Warehouse. Oxford (c. 1790)
John Wickens in Lincoln Lane near All Saints Church (now Lincoln College
Library), announces himself purely a purveyor of musical instruments and
publications. He is also known to have published The Oxford Ramble, a
song. The piano depicted is a square piano. At this date Turl Street was called
‘Lincoln College Lane’ from the High Street to Ship Street and ‘The Turle’
from Ship Street to Broad Street.
