This trade card is interesting not only because of its evidence of an oriental influence on Oxford commerce in the early 19^th century, but also because the card was lithographed by Wise’s neighbour in St Clements, Nathaniel Whittock (no. 332). A note at the foot of the mount reads: ‘The names of Mr. Wise’s two immediate neighbours were Parsons and Hunt. The three firms thus read Wise Parsons Hunt.’
