To browse the world wide web and compile links to websites that concern the creation, conservation and preservation of Asian manuscripts

Part two

To carry out a comprehensive survey of the Asian manuscript collections in the host institution, the Bodleian Library, University of Oxford, employing 'A model for assessing preservation needs in libraries' developed by the National Preservation Office (NPO)

Part three

To circulate a questionnaire on conservation issues to conservators in the partner institutions participating in this project

Part four

To create a photographic record

of the various artefacts found in Asian manuscript collections

of the types of damage (physical, chemical, biological, poor repair, poor binding techniques, etc.) sustained by Asian manuscript material

of examples of preservation and conservation work carried out in the host and partner institutions

Part five

To produce illustrated guidelines on the handling of Asian manuscripts

Part six

To summarise research in progress on pigments found in Asian manuscripts
