All 6 conservators are encouraged to work on a wide range of material. The challenges presented by the range of formats and conservation problems within Asian material are best addressed in the context of open debate and the sharing of ideas in the department as a whole. |

All 5 conservators eventually work on Asian material. There is a rotation policy whereby a conservator is allocated to work for a different department/collection each year: Oriental; Western Manuscripts; Archives; Early printed books; and Iconography. In this way conservators get to work on a variety of material and become familiar with the Library’s collections and staff. |
